I am Tshepo “Dj @ Large” Kgapane. A smart 27-year-old former Radio broadcaster, TV presenter, Financial literacy speaker, blogger and social Entrepreneur. A shooting star in my own right….
My Radio journey of frequencies begun in 2011 at Voice of Wits FM, while I was studying towards my Bcom Law. Curiosity for the medium and its power to touch listeners through creativity and music drew me in. In April 2015, my hard work, energy and rawness earned me a premium weekend slot on YFM, a contemporary Urban Hit Radio station. Changes in management and the direction of the station, saw me departing in April 2018 to pursue other ventures and enter the corporate world.
While honing my Radio craft, I completed my Bcom Law Degree and a PDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) at Regent Business school. I truly believe that Education is a passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.
Music and TV
In March 2017 I released my debut House single, titled “Down Down”. The song was playlisted on 5fm, Metro Fm, YFM, VOW FM and digital stations in the USA.
In October 2016, Africa 365 signed me on as a Presenter for a Brand-new TV show on Soweto TV. Babize Bonke is a music video request and shout out show. As the presenter, I travelled to different locations and interacted with a variety of people. Clere for Men, Cuddlers, Damelin, Stumbo were the principle sponsors involved. After 6 months Babize Bonke was ranked as the highest watched show on the platform with an excess of 95 000 viewers. A milestone on the community station.
Social Enterpreneur and Financial literacy
In 2016, I embarked on a journey to foster learning and spark a change in the way that young South Africans, think and plan for their financial futures. This passion led me to the creation of the Youth Money circle event. A free event aimed to educate young people about money, savings and investments through real and unconventional group dialogue and debate pinned on the experiences of others.
I have since hosted several events hosting some of the brightest financial minds such as Simon Brown (Financial market commentator), Charles Savage (Purple Group CEO) and Warren Ingram (Award-winning Financial planner and author). These events have been possible through the creation of strategic partnerships with organizations such as Standard Bank, 1 Life Direct, Liberty and Easy Equities.
This has led to me being invited on various platforms to speak about personal financial and business.
